EMPAQ®

EMPAQ® Data Collection 2010

The EMPAQ® data collection period will be open from May 10 – July 1, 2010 for both aggregate and claims level data. Individual company benchmarking reports will be delivered mid-August 2010 and the EMPAQ® Annual Summary Research Report will be delivered late October 2010.  The Business Group will continue to offer EMPAQ® free of charge to all of our members – a value-added member service that we have been offering since 2007.

Wellness Benchmarking Initiative

The Global Health Benefits Institute (GHBI) will hold a call on Tuesday, March 9th, 2010 at 10:00 am ET about wellness initiatives in South Africa.  This call is part of a monthly series about global wellness practices in GHBI’s nine target countries:  Brazil, Canada, China, India, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.

Institute Updates

Institute on Innovation in Workforce Well-being

The Institute on Innovation in Workforce Well-being Reducing Obesity, Improving Health, is currently working on incentive designs and results (with a focus on incorporating behavioral economics); effective ways to engage Generation Y/Millennials and improve their health behaviors; best practices in obesity and diabetes management; and developing work environments to promote physical activity and healthier eating.  The Institute’s mission is to actively involve large employers in thought leadership, problem solving and the identification and development of best approaches to motivate employee/family engagement in improving health and well-being, with measurable results.

Global Health Benefits Institute Board Meeting

Jacques Malan Consultants & Actuaries (RSA) (Pty) Ltd presented an overview of the health and health benefit issues in South Africa.

 

Business Challenges Forum, a moderated discussion which allows members to benchmark with one another about tim, addressed two subjects:

  1. Use of preventive services outside the U.S.
  2. Identifying providers with quality outcomes outside the U.S.

The HIV/AIDS team presented a new deliverable, Medical Coverage for HIV/AIDS in India. 
 

The Institute discussed the 2010 update process for the Benchmarking Framework.

Other agenda topics included cost containment approaches outside the U.S., the Institute’s global wellness toolkit, and new initiatives in China.  

The Institute continues to hold pre-Board meetings to facilitate member discussion and problem-solving for non-health global benefits issues.
